Synthetic
polyester
Polyester has many desirable qualities that make it a brilliant material for creating a wide variety of products from clothing and bags to home furnishings. In fact, it has remained the most commonly used fibre in the world for almost twenty years thanks to its durability and versatility.
Although there are many different types of this man-made polymer, it most often refers to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) which is a thermoplastic that derives from a chemical reaction involving petroleum, air and water.
When turned into polyester yarn and woven together, it creates an inexpensive fabric that we all encounter multiple times throughout the day whether it is in our clothes, furniture or bedding.
