cork

Cork is such a versatile material that it can even be transformed into a vegan leather.

Once the cork has been carefully extracted from the Cork Oak Tree, without damaging or harming it in any way, it is dried, boiled, flattened and pressed into sheets. A fabric backing is then pressed onto the cork sheet and bonded using suberin (a naturally occurring adhesive within the cork).

This produces a strong yet flexible and soft material that can be used to make bag, accessories and even home insulation.

Cork leather is possibly the best eco-friendly alternative to animal leather on the market being that it has all the same great properties as well as being water-repellent, scratch-resistant and far less harmful to the environment.
